Ubuntu的snapd工具已经被移植到了其它Linux发行版，非Ubuntu发行版也将可以安装snap应用。snap应用捆绑了依赖库，因此其应用容量普遍比其它包格式更大，举例来说Libreoffice的deb包容量为229MB，而snap包容量是1016MB。Snapd移植到了Arch、Debian和Fedora，正被CentOS、Elementary、Gentoo、Mint、openSUSE、OpenWrt和RHEL等发行版测试，安装snap应用需要首先安装Snapd工具。
